Jordan Spieth is a dad.
The pro golfer and wife Annie Verret welcomed their first child this week. Sammy Spieth was born on Nov. 14, the 12-time PGA Tour winner wrote on Twitter.
“Mama and baby doing great! Feeling blessed!”
Spieth shared a photo of his son’s tiny hand holding his finger on Instagram and Twitter.
Fellow golf stars and celebrities shared congratulatory messages in the comments, including Brooks Koepka, Lindsey Vonn, Niall Horan and more.
Verret also shared the news to her private Instagram account. She posted a photo of the couple’s newborn in a bright blue onesie, napping alongside their dog.
In her caption, she wrote that the new parents “couldn’t be happier.”
Spieth and Verret, who tend to keep their family life private, did not make an announcement about her pregnancy. News that the couple was expecting circulated in September when she attended the Tour Championship at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
“We weren’t like hiding it or anything like that, it was just more private life,” Spieth told GolfChannel.com. He added at the time that they were “very excited” to welcome a baby and that things were “going smoothly” in Verret’s pregnancy.
Spieth enjoyed an incredible 2021 on the course, too, bouncing back from struggles in recent years. Spieth, 28, won the Texas Open and finished second at the British Open.
The high school sweethearts got engaged during the 2017 holiday season and tied the knot in 2018.
