Very few haven't seen the iconic image where Vinnie Jones took the bold step of reaching down and grabbing Paul Gascoigne on the privates during a match. You can't unsee it, that's for sure...

Well, that's not the only time the pair, who are best of friends now, clashed as Jones's former Wimbledon teammate Dave Beasant revealed.

While Jones wasn't short of passion and heart as a player, it's fair to say that he and a fair few of the Crazy Gang had their limitations.

So when Wimbledon came up against a Newcastle side containing the the young and hugely talented Gazza, there was only going to be one man given the task of marking the emerging star.

Jones doesn't do half measures and he decided he had to follow Gazza around from first minute to last whatever the cost.

However, he had a problem when Wimbledon won a throw-in in the final third of Newcastle's half.

Wimbledon relied on Jones's ability to launch the ball into the box but Beasant revealed how the former Wales international had a plan to take the throw-in while also not relinquishing his Gazza marking duties.

Beasant revealed the hilarious tale on The Sports Bar: "Don Howe [ex-Wimbledon assistant] on the day said, and it's a thing that Vinnie took as a back-handed compliment, 'Vinnie, they've got that lad Gazza, you are going to stop him playing. If you stop him playing, they're really gonna to miss him, we won't miss you so much but they're gonna miss him!'

"They're in the tunnel and Vinnie's pointing over to Gazza and goes 'oi, you Fatboy! Me and you on the pitch, I'm gonna follow you everywhere. You are not gonna kick the ball!

"And Vinnie, you know what he's like... Vinnie had a long throw and it was part of our armoury and during the game because we had a throw-in in the final third and Vinnie goes 'oi Gazza, I've got to take the throw-in. Stay there, don't move and I'll be back.'

"And literally Gazza is stood there and waiting for him to come back!"
