York Springs Man Dies In Crash Into Utility Pole, Authorities Say

Matthew McCorkel was driving a Nissan Frontier when he lost control, crossing over the center of York Road before exiting the roadway striking a utility pole, and then hitting a wooden fence near the intersection with Myers Road around 5 a.m. Sunday, April 30, authorities said.

Matthew McCorkel was driving a Nissan Frontier when he lost control, crossing over the center of York Road before exiting the roadway— striking a utility pole, and then hitting a wooden fence— near the intersection with Myers Road around 5 a.m. Sunday, April 30, authorities said. 

He was found dead at the scene, according to state police. 

McCorkel died from multiple traumatic injuries and his death was ruled accidental by Cumberland County Coroner Charley Hall.  

The reason McCorkel exited the roadway is unknown and remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police.
